Emmy Snubs

The Emmy nominations came out yesterday and a lot of my favorite shows got solid recognition. However, there aren't enough spots for everyone. Let's take a look at some of the snubs.

Who: Michelle Monaghan
Show: 'True Detective'

My friends are really sick of me talking about how amazing the first season of 'True Detective' is. In my defense, the season finale of the program was so popular that HBO GO crashed when too many users were logging into the streaming service. The acting on the show is great. I would have loved to have seen Michelle Monaghan get nominated alongside costars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Who: Taryn Manning
Show: 'Orange is the New Black'

Although season one of 'OITNB' premiered over a year ago, yesterday's nominations that the show garnered were all for season one and not season two. Now it makes sense why I thought the show was snubbed by the Emmys in 2013. It turns out its summer premiere date didn't qualify it for last year's nominations. Anyway, 'Orange is the New Black' has fantastic subplots. It's not that surprising that five actresses got nominated for their work. However, I wish Taryn Manning was one of them. She is great as the troublemaker Pennsatucky.

Who: Thomas Middleditch
Show: 'Silicon Valley'

I knew it was unlikely that Thomas Middleditch would score a nomination for playing nerdy Richard on 'Silicon Valley,' but I think he deserves to be on the best actor list for the comedy category. Maybe he will get some love by the Hollywood Foreign Press when the Golden Globes are announced later this year.
