Last month I wrote a blog post about a few actors who might have deserved Emmy nominations. Here are a few more people whose work was overlooked by the voters.

Who: Tatiana Maslany

Show: 'Orphan Black'

People reacted strongly on social media when Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany was snubbed an Emmy nomination for the BBC America show 'Orphan Black.' Maybe she will get a Golden Globe nomination in a few months for her work on the second season of the popular series. 

Who: Elisabeth Moss

Show: 'Mad Men'

Elisabeth Moss has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy every year since 2009, so it was pretty shocking that she didn't get recognition this year for her work on the AMC show 'Mad Men.'

Who: Jessica Paré

Show: 'Mad Men'

I don't think that Jessica Paré gets enough recognition for her role as Don Draper's wife on 'Mad Men.' It would have been nice to see the Canadian actress score her first Emmy nomination for her work on season 7 of the AMC series.

James Foley

 

 

 

 

Fellow Northwestern University alum, who was kidnapped in 2012 in Syria, was executed by an Islamist extremist. The video of his beheading was posted this past Tuesday. Bradley Hamm, the Dean of the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications, posted this statement today:

 

 

Our Medill family is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the murder of Jim Foley. He was a courageous reporter who risked his life repeatedly to seek the truth around the world.

Journalists face threats in many forms as they try to report difficult stories that need to be told, but the attack on Jim was barbaric. It was, in a larger sense, an attack on freedoms necessary in a civilized society and across strained cultures. Jim endures for us as a beacon reminding us of the risks implicit in shedding light where inhumanity can take hold.Our thoughts today are with Jim’s parents, Diane and John, and the entire Foley family and their friends. We ask that all Medill and Northwestern students, faculty, staff and alumni join us in remembrance of Jim Foley. The loss of such a distinguished alum affects us all.



 



Robin Williams

I was really saddened by the death of Robin Williams last week. I feel like he was a huge part of my childhood. I watched 'Mrs. Doubtfire' on VHS countless times when I was younger. Conan O'Brien did a very classy tribute on his show last week. Here is that video:

Chris Pratt raps 'Forgot About Dre.'

Chris Pratt has become quite the superstar since 'Guardians of the Galaxy' set box office records this past weekend. A few days ago, Pratt got a lot of attention for his rap skills.
